6. Stores: Spotify

You can change the standard band photo / artist photo on Spotify via Spofity for Artists (previously Spotify Fan Insights), the 'dashboard' for artists that gives you insight into statistics for your releases.

You sign up for Spotify for Artists Through this link. Since the access is linked to a personal Spotify account, we cannot arrange this registration for you.

You can add a biography on Spotify via Spofity for Artists (previously Spotify Fan Insights), the 'dashboard' for artists that gives you insight into statistics for your releases.

A Spotify biography can have a maximum of 1500 characters. It is possible to add a link to a Wikipedia page in your bio.

Spotify shows a 'concerts' tab on your artist profile. This tab is filled with data from Songkick, a service that allows fans to stay up to date with performances of their favorite artists. To show your own concert data on Spotify, you need an artist account at Songkick. You can find more information here .

Via Spotify for Artists, Spotify offers the possibility to bring one of your tracks to be brought to the attention of the compilers of their official playlists.

How does it work?
- You have claimed your Spotify profile via Spotify for Artists.
- As soon as we have delivered your release to Spotify, you will see it in your Spotify for Artists dashboard under the 'upcoming' releases within two to three working days.
- You can only register tracks that have not yet been released on Spotify. Once the release is 'live', you can no longer register it for possible placement on Spotify playlists. So make sure there is enough time between the moment of uploading and the actual release date. Spotify recommends making sure they release you at least seven days before the release date. This means that it is wise to send your release at least ten days before the release date via our platform.
- You choose the song you want to bring to the attention of the Spotify editors and fill in all the details. Spotify asks for the language of your song, the most important instruments and the 'mood' of your track. You also have the option to add additional information about the content of the song and about your promotion plans.

Spotify gives no guarantee that your number will actually be placed on one or more playlists.

Unfortunately, it may happen that your artist name or the name of your band already exists. For the stores it is in most cases not clear in advance that it concerns different artists and so your releases are merged with those of your namesake.

Fortunately, Spotify and iTunes / Apple Music offer the possibility to 'split' your releases, and thus ensure that those of the artist of the same name are placed on a different page. Send your split request to info@wmdigitalservices.nl and we submit it to both platforms. Unfortunately, other stores do not currently offer an option to split releases from artists of the same name.

All releases that are shorter than 30 minutes and / or consist of 5 tracks or less are automatically listed by Spotify under 'Singles and EPs'. Unfortunately, this cannot be changed.

The 'related artists' that Spotify displays cannot be changed manually. Spotify automatically generates this list of artists based on the listening behavior of the users and data collected externally (eg on social media). This also applies to other stores that show 'related artists' with your releases.
